Living with Pets in an Apartment: Making your Apartment Pet Friendly

You can have your pet and a great apartment at the same time! With a few simple decorating tips you and your pet are sure to make excellent roommates – even though they can’t share in the chores!

  • Try matching your furniture with your pets hair color – they might clash but at least your sofa will look clean!
  • Regularly brushing and bathing your pet removes loose hair before it ends up on your floor, bed, throw pillows and curtains There are several groomers in Mesa, AZ. In between groomings, brush your pets coat at least once a week to help eliminate excess hair.
  • Scotch guard your furniture or when you purchase new furniture make sure it has stain guard.
  • Vacuum your carpets, curtains and your furniture twice a week to remove pet hair.
  • When vacuuming your carpets use pet odor remover powder to keep your apartment smelling fresh and clean.
  • Give your pet his or her own plush, washable bed in your room, the living room and the study. They won’t need to get on your furniture if they have a bed in ever room of your apartment!
  • Keep a lint brush in the drawer of the coffee table to quickly clean up if you have a surprise guest.
  • Plug it in, plug it in! Grab some air fresheners and strategically place them throughout your apartment to alleviate pet odors. If your pet has a favorite sleeping spot you may try hiding a box of baking soda on a shelf to help absorb odors.
  • Change your air filters every month to help limit dust and allergens in the air – not only do you have to dust less but you are saving money on your electric bill!
  • Give your pet his or her own room Keep their bed, litter box and toys in one location. This will help keep any odor in a central location as well as pet hair.
